Building on decades of baking experience, Promise Gluten Free was launched in 2011 with a clear vision to create gluten-free baked goods that combine great taste, texture, and genuine nutritional value in a category where this combination has not been achieved. As health-conscious consumers increasingly seek out "free from" products, the gluten-free bakery category continues to grow rapidly.

Promise Gluten Free's unique baking process and innovative product range underpinned Mayfair's decision to invest in July 2017 to drive the company's internationalisation. The Group expanded its manufacturing footprint into North America through an acquisition and is now serving North American customers with the same market leading products through local production. In 2024, the Group acquired The Irish Bread Company, a conventional bakery with strong heritage in the Irish market and an extensive distribution network. Utilising the innovation capabilities of the team, the business is delivering growth through their family of brands (Promise Gluten Free, Gallaghers Bakehouse, Irish Pride and Pat the Baker).
