LONDON 4 May 2023 – Mayfair Equity Partners (“Mayfair” or “the Firm”), a dedicated, mid-market consumer and technology investor with over £2 billion in assets under management, is pleased to announce six promotions. In addition to the promotions and to support the continuing growth of the Firm, Mayfair is also creating a new Chief Strategy Officer role.
Mayfair’s philosophy is to back people and their ideas, working with founders and management teams to help them to achieve a step-change in scale and realise their ambitions. To fulfil this vision, Mayfair has built a dedicated Specialist team that is focused on delivering sustainable long-term growth through business process improvement. This capability is compounded through the adoption of an integrated staffing model where team members with an operating background, as well as those with an investment focus, support companies across the investment cycle from origination to exit.
Mayfair is fully committed to this staffing model, with the promotions across the Firm demonstrating the deep and broad bench of senior talent.
Paul Reading, who was promoted to Partner in 2022, has been named as Mayfair’s new Chief Strategy Officer. Paul will work closely with Daniel Sasaki, Mayfair’s Managing Partner, to design and implement the Firm’s long-term strategy. He will also retain his role as Specialist – Integration Planning, focused on unlocking value at portfolio companies, including M&A-led growth strategies and supporting post-merger integration planning. Paul joined Mayfair in 2019 from EY, where he was an equity partner and led the UK mid-market private equity value creation team.
Mayfair is also promoting Markus Zejermann to Managing Director. Markus joined Mayfair in 2021 as a Director in the investment team from L-GAM and Volpi Capital where he focused on technology and tech-enabled services businesses. He is responsible for originating and executing new investments and for supporting Mayfair’s portfolio companies in delivering on their growth strategies. Most recently, he led Mayfair’s investment in Jonckers, a leading tech-enabled language services provider. Markus has made a significant contribution to Mayfair since he joined, consistently contributing to the development of the Firm, its funds and portfolio companies.
Mayfair was founded in 2014 by its four founding Partners who have a shared passion for growth buyouts. From humble beginnings at a kitchen table, Mayfair now has over £2 billion in assets under management. The Firm is fast, nimble, and entrepreneurial, with a deep understanding of what it’s like to start a business with nothing but an idea and a blank sheet of paper. Mayfair is wholly owned by its Partners, who also constitute its Investment Committee. To date, the Firm has backed over 40 management teams in the technology and consumer sectors.
“Promotions are a way of recognising and rewarding outstanding performance,” commented Daniel Sasaki, Managing Partner of Mayfair. “I am pleased to announce the promotion of six members of our team, each of whom has consistently demonstrated their commitment to our Active Partnership approach, the innovators we have backed, and their colleagues. Their hard work and dedication have helped to make Mayfair a success, and I am confident that they will continue to help deliver on our long-term goals. I am also delighted to appoint Paul Reading to the newly created position of Chief Strategy Officer. This is a critical role that will help us to shape our long-term strategy and ensure that Mayfair continues to be well-positioned for success in the years to come.”
In addition to Paul Reading’s new role and the promotion of Markus Zejermann, Mayfair has made five other promotions:

In addition to working on a number of investments in the TMT space, Ihar has worked in close partnership with a number of portfolio companies and their management teams to develop and deliver their strategic vision for growth, as well as spearheading technological innovation within the Firm itself.
Omar Kanafani joined Mayfair in 2019 and has been promoted to Director. Omar is part of the investment team responsible for originating and evaluating new investments. He has assisted portfolio companies across a number of strategic growth initiatives. Prior to Mayfair, Omar worked at Partners Group in London and Switzerland, focusing on originating, structuring, and executing European transactions. Omar started his career as a strategy consultant at EY-Parthenon.
